LeMoyne-Owen College, founded in 1862, is a private historically black, liberal arts teaching institution that helps students discover and use their full range of talents, expand their knowledge, and prepare for professional careers and meaningful personal lives. As the only Historically Black College or University (HBCU) in Memphis, TN, our history is rich in tradition dating back over 160 years. LeMoyne-Owen College has played a key role in the development of several local and national leaders.
The undergraduate program at LeMoyne-Owen is carried out through five academic divisions offering majors in 22 areas of study leading to the Bachelor of Arts, the Bachelor of Science or the Bachelor of Business Administration degrees.
