Celebrates 160 Years of Magic!

We are proud and excited to celebrate with students, alumni, faculty, corporations, and many of our “Magic” supporters. On Friday, March 11, 2022, LOC kicked off the yearlong celebration on the steps of Brownlee Hall. This event was hosted by President Vernell Bennett-Fairs, along with our 160th Anniversary Committee Chair Linda McNeil and Co-Chair Jonathan Ealy.

OUR HISTORY

LeMoyne-Owen College, founded in 1862, is a private historically black, liberal arts teaching institution that helps students discover and use their full range of talents, expand their knowledge, and prepare for professional careers and meaningful personal lives. As the only Historically Black College or University (HBCU) in Memphis, TN, our history is rich in tradition dating back over 160 years. LeMoyne-Owen College has played a key role in the development of several local and national leaders.

Academic Divisions
& Degree Offerings

The undergraduate program at LeMoyne-Owen is carried out through five academic divisions offering majors in 22 areas of study leading to the Bachelor of Arts, the Bachelor of Science or the Bachelor of Business Administration degrees.

Living and Learning
at LOC

Campus Living and Learning helps develop students by providing a safe, diverse living environment. It is our goal to create a unique living experience that promotes excellence and achievement for every scholar.

Type: co-ed dormitory

Capacity: 336 beds (32 single rooms/152 double rooms)

Amenities: Student Lounges, Laundry Rooms, Warming Kitchen, On-Site Parking, 24 hour Security

Basic Cable provided, Study Areas on each floor, High speed internet and WiFi, Each Bedroom has a Private Bath, State-of-the-Art, Computer Center, Game Room with Video Gaming Systems

What Are The Admission Requirements?

Admission Requirements • COMPLETE: An application for admission (Online application preferred – www.loc.edu) • PAY: $25 non-refundable application fee or fee waiver • SUBMIT: Official final high school transcript or equivalent provided by previous school attended (with graduation date) • SUBMIT: SAT or ACT test score (If under age 21) • All students must submit proof of immunizations

Are There Scholarships Available?

Strada Scholars Three students chosen each year This nationwide scholars program is focused on leadership development, academic success and critical social engagement.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Must have and maintain a 3.0 GPA Student will receive $7,000/per year $3,500/per semester Participate in quarterly events dealing with Leadership Development and Internship Opportunities Attend Strada HBCU Summit once a year with College President and Liaison
