What is Freshman Seminar?
Freshman Seminar is an introductory seminar that specifically addresses the development of the Ten LeMoyne-Owen College Competencies. In this course, students have the opportunity to explore the overall building blocks for success in college and in life, understanding that the journey of college is a time of transformation from the inside and out. This transformation begins with the identification and clarification of values, self-identity, and an appreciation of the values and thoughts of others.
The mission of Freshman Seminar is to provide opportunities for students to:
- develop relationships with faculty, staff, advisors, and peers;
- cultivate self-knowledge;
- make informed and thoughtful decisions about the future;
- learn about and utilize campus resources for academic success, personal planning and growth.
