W.E.B. DuBois Scholars Program Curriculum and the Certificate of Academic Excellence      

The Certificate of Academic Excellence is the culmination of the successful completion of the rigorous, yet rewarding W.E.B. DuBois Scholars Program.   Successful candidates must meet the following honors curriculum requirements:

  • Scholars admitted from high school:  
  • Ten (10) honors experiences; 3 at the 300-400 level; 30 Volunteer hours
  • Scholars admitted between freshman and sophomore years:
  • Seven (7) honors experiences; 3 at the 300-400 level; 25 Volunteer hours
  • Scholars admitted between sophomore and junior years:
  • Six (6) honors experiences; 3 at the 300-400 level; 20 Volunteer hours

 

*An “experience” means successful completion of honors coursework and activities.

Scholars must also:

  • Complete the Honors Graduate Exit Survey
  • Assemble an Honors E-Portfolio that includes the final projects from honors courses and evidence of civic/volunteer work in the community. Copies of the E-Portfolio are housed in the Honors office
  • Achieve a cumulative 3.33 or higher LOC GPA at the conclusion of his or her seventh semester
