BIOGRAPHY: Coach Edward Newton III Coach Newton is entering his first year as Men’s Basketball Coach for The Magicians. Prior to this year, he served in an interim capacity. Before The LeMoyne-Owen College Men’s Basketball program, Newton served as second assistant for the Lane College Dragons under Head Coach Dr. J. L. Perry. Newton also served three seasons, 2003 to 2006, as Men’s Assistant Basketball Coach, Head Cross Country and Track Coach and Head Woman’s Softball Coach at Rust College in Holly Springs, MS. Newton also worked as Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach at Labette Community College in Parsons, KS from 1999 to 2003. In 1998, he was Strength and Conditioning Coach at Field Kindley High School in Coffeyville, KS. Coach Newton is a graduate of Rust College (1996) with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Print Journalism. He was also a member of the Rust College Men’s Basketball team and he also played at Coffeyville Community College in Coffeyville, KS. Coach Newton is a native of Stockton, CA.
