Jerry Dover Jr. is the proud son of the late great Jerry Dover Sr. and Edith Dover. Jerry has many strong ties with the LeMoyne-Owen family; his father went to LeMoyne-Owen College, played basketball for LOC under the legendary Head Coach Jerry Johnson from 1968-1971 and LOC retired his jersey into the basketball hall of fame. He later went on to play for the American Basketball Association (ABA) with the Memphis Pros and was the shortest player to ever play in the ABA.
Jerry Dover Jr. graduated from Germantown High School and chose to attend local Southwest Tennessee Community College to play under the legendary Head Coach Verties Sails. While playing under Coach Verties Sails, Jerry tied a Southwest single season record with 9 steals in a single game, completed the requirements to make the Dean’s list and received his Associate’s degree in General Studies. From there Jerry went up the road to Jackson, Tennessee to play basketball for Lane College under Coach J.L. Perry. While attending Lane College and being a student athlete, Jerry earned his Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and also graduated Cum Laude.
