Burchett Graduated from Hamilton High school here in Memphis Tennessee under the directions of head coach Ted Anderson. He was rated by both Hoop Scoop and Midsouth-Hoops.com as one of the top players in the city. As a senior, Burchett was injured most of the season and averaged 16.0 points per game. His junior year, Burchett averaged 16.3 points per game and led Hamilton to a 23-12 record, the Region 8 championship, and a berth in the Class AAA state tournament.
After high school he attended the University of Arkansas-Fort Smith for a semester under head coach Doc Sadler, but transferred back home after personal reasons. He then enrolled into Southwest Tennessee Community College where he played under legendary head coach Verties Sails where he then teamed up with childhood friend Jerry Dover Jr. As a sophomore he helped lead southwest to a 22-6 overall record and earn a #13 national ranking.
After Graduating from Southwest Tennessee Community College, Burchett received a full ride to Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas where he played the next two years under legendary head coach Billy Tubbs and Steve Roccaforte and received his bachelor’s degree in university studies.
Burchett is no stranger to the LeMoyne-Owen family; he played AAU basketball for the Infamous Memphis YOMCA under current Head Coach and Athletic Director William Anderson for LOC along being coached by legendary Jerry Dover Sr, and Jarrett Stephens. While under their mentorship he gained a handful of knowledge and exposure which helped prepare him for the next level without basketball, which is the game of life.
